Ian was a special person with whom I had a developed a personal connection. He was a thinker – although some may suggest a bit of a “stinker” – but aren’t we all?

It was a privilege getting to know him over the last 3 decades of his life. The impression he has left will always be with me.

I’m so sorry to learn of Ian’s passing. We go back so many years and I enjoyed meeting with Ian and his mother in White Rock for lunch.
We also used to exchange Christmas Cards and his newsy message was always the same, “Ian”.

We grew up in Parkview Edmonton and I have many fond memories of those carefree days. Years later when we moved to the Sault Ian drove from Ottawa for Christmas with us in 1979. I also remember visiting him in Ottawa with his significant other whose name I cannot for the life of me remember. Later they would visit us in Edmonton on their driving trip west, probably in his classic Supra.

Ian was a gentleman and a scholar and good friend. It sad to learn that he has passed and may he rest in peace.

    July 27, 2026; 1730 hrs.

My deepest condolences to the family of Ian as they mourn his passing. I cherish many fond memories of the times we shared growing up in west Edmonton. Especially poingnant are those of the New Years Eve card games. My freshest memory is of the lunch visit I and my then new partner Lynne shared with Ian and Keith in White Rock the fall of 2003.

As our good mutual friend Bob Scott has already said; Ian was, in fact a scholar and most certainly a gentleman.

Rest in Peace good a true friend.
